Truth and Hair has raised Rs 5.4 crore in a seed round led by Inflection Point Ventures. Varun Alagh, cofounder of Mamaearth, participated through an on air deal offer on Shark Tank India Season 5.
Founded in 2024 in Gurugram by Saumya Alagh and Shailesh Singh, the brand sells hair beauty and styling products direct to consumer, positioned as alternatives to conventional hair care. Its range includes a root touch up hair mascara, a 3 in 1 curly styler and a flyaway wand, built for multiple hair textures. The capital will go towards brand positioning, product innovation, marketing and expanding distribution.
The category context is favourable. India’s hair care and styling market was valued at about 5.85 billion dollars in 2024 and is projected to reach 8.93 billion dollars by 2029.
The interesting part for operators is the product strategy rather than the round size. This is a styling and finishing range rather than another shampoo or serum, which puts it in a less crowded part of the category and gives it a clearer reason to exist on a shelf.
Styling products also behave differently commercially. They tend to be lower repeat than cleansing and treatment, so the model depends more on range expansion and basket building than on subscription style replenishment. That is a harder cohort curve, and it is the number worth watching as the brand scales distribution.
