Groww founders launch Rs 500 crore Stargazer fund

The four cofounders are backing consumer internet and deeptech from their own capital, with no outside limited partners and cheques up to 10 million dollars.

The signal
  • Stargazer is targeting a corpus of Rs 400 crore to Rs 500 crore as a CAT II AIF.
  • Funded entirely by the four cofounders' personal capital, with no external limited partners.
  • Backs seed and early stage consumer internet and deeptech, with cheques up to 10 million dollars.
  • The first Stargazer fund, launched in 2023, ran a Rs 65 crore corpus and a Rs 5 crore maximum cheque.

The four cofounders of Groww are launching a second fund, Stargazer, targeting a corpus of Rs 400 crore to Rs 500 crore. Lalit Keshre, Ishan Bansal, Harsh Jain and Neeraj Singh will act as general partners.

The fund is structured as a CAT II alternative investment fund and is being financed entirely from the founders’ own capital, with no external limited partners. It will back seed and early stage companies in consumer internet and deeptech, with a particular interest in AI and frontier technology, and can write cheques of up to 10 million dollars. Deployment is expected over two to three years.

It is a substantial step up from the first Stargazer fund launched in 2023, which ran a Rs 65 crore corpus with a maximum cheque of Rs 5 crore. That portfolio includes FirstClub, Zilo, Ringg AI, OnFinance AI, Octolife and Theranautilus. The founders sold Rs 270 crore of company shares in May 2026, with proceeds directed towards startup investment and philanthropy.

For consumer founders the relevant detail is the absence of outside limited partners. A fund answering only to its own partners can hold positions longer, take unconventional bets and ignore the deployment pressure that comes with a fundraising cycle. That tends to suit categories where the path takes longer than a standard fund life, which describes most consumer brand building.
