Flipkart Minutes targets 1,500 fulfillment centres

Flipkart Minutes plans to scale to 1,500 micro fulfillment centres across 180 cities as Amazon Now targets 300 cities, sharpening the quick commerce contest with Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart.

The signal
  • Flipkart Minutes at 1,000 centres in 130 cities, targeting 1,500 across 180 cities
  • Amazon Now expanding from 15 plus cities toward 300, backed by Rs 2,800 crore
  • Flipkart Minutes volumes up fivefold, with 42x growth in Tier II and III over a year
  • Gen Z makes up 40 percent of the Flipkart Minutes user base

Two giants scale fast

The battle for minutes delivery is widening as Flipkart and Amazon pour capital into it, according to Inc42. Flipkart Minutes runs about 1,000 micro fulfillment centres across 130 cities and 8,000 plus pincodes, and aims to reach 1,500 centres in 180 cities in the following months. SVP Kunal Gupta said customers are not just ordering more, they are ordering differently, noting the average order value of fruits and vegetables rose 30 percent. Volumes have grown fivefold since the network expansion began, with Tier II and III scaling 42x over the past year.

Amazon commits capital

Amazon Now, live in 15 plus metro and non metro cities, is targeting 300 cities, up from an earlier 100 city goal, backed by an allocation of Rs 2,800 crore. CEO Andy Jassy flagged 25 percent month on month order growth in India, and the unit reaches over 50 million customers. Both trail Blinkit, which had more than 2,200 dark stores across 200 plus cities as of March 2026, alongside Zepto and Swiggy Instamart. Why it matters for Indian brands: as marketplace owned quick commerce expands into smaller cities, D2C labels gain new shelf space closer to buyers, but must plan for tighter pack sizes and faster replenishment to sit on those dark store racks.
