CARS24 puts $5 Mn into enterprise AI firm Deployment

CARS24 has launched Deployment Inc, an enterprise AI company, with a $5 million investment. The venture is led by Jayesh Gupta, a CARS24 executive, and Aayush Gupta, previously a backend engineering specialist at xAI. Deployment Inc plans to hire 50 engineers this month. Its first customer is CARS24 itself.

The model is forward deployed engineers, or FDEs, who work inside a customer organisation on specific high value workflows. They connect models to company data and systems, deploy the new workflow, benchmark it against the existing process, and then run it at scale. Target sectors are BFSI, healthcare, manufacturing and logistics. Deployment Inc is an OpenAI Select Partner for enterprise deployments.

CARS24 pointed to its own results as the proof. The company said internal AI work cut service request turnaround from 32 hours to 30 minutes, halved inspection times and lifted engineering team output threefold. Vikram Chopra, CARS24 cofounder and CEO, said: “Every enterprise will soon have access to powerful AI models. The scarce capability will be knowing how to turn them into systems that customers and employees can depend on.”

Note what the $5 million does not cover. Fifty engineers hired in a single month against $5 million is seed capital, not runway, so this is built to be funded by customer contracts early or by a later round. The announcement carries no equity split, no pricing model, no revenue target and no current CARS24 financials, so the economics cannot be assessed from what has been disclosed.

The interesting move is not the AI. It is CARS24 packaging the internal capability it built rather than the software it built. FDE work is headcount that scales close to linearly, so the metric that will decide this is revenue per engineer, not model choice. For an Indian operator taking a first meeting in this category, the sharp question is which of your workflows they will benchmark against your current process, and what happens to the contract if the benchmark loses.
