The Bear House reports 5X conversions with Glance AI agent

Harsh Somaiya, cofounder of The Bear House, described results from deploying Glance’s AI shopping agent on the brand’s storefront. He was speaking at Inc42’s D2C & Retail Summit 2026, reported on 19 August 2026.

The agent analyses customer preference and budget, reads context and appearance signals, and offers virtual try-on. Somaiya reported that average order value rose from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500. He also reported that conversions increased 5X, that time spent more than tripled from a 30 to 50 second baseline, that returns reduced 20 percent, and that customers began buying complete looks rather than single products.

The reporting gaps are worth stating plainly. The 5X conversion figure and the 20 percent returns reduction were given without any stated baseline, so the starting point is unknown. No post-deployment time figure was given either. Piyush Shah, cofounder of InMobi and Glance, and Vaibhav Vardhan, cofounder and CEO of Inc42, also spoke on the session.

The operator read

The AOV move is the only claim here with both a before and an after. Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500 is a 75 percent lift, and it is the one number another brand can actually benchmark against. Everything else is a multiple floating free of its base. A 5X conversion lift off a very low base and a 5X lift off a healthy base describe two different businesses, and nothing in the report tells you which one this is.

Treat it as a prompt to fix your own measurement first. Before you evaluate any AI merchandising tool, write down today’s conversion rate, return rate, session duration and average order value, and date the note. Then ask every vendor for both ends of every number in their case studies. If all they can give you is the multiple, you are being sold a story, not a result.
