Blinkit Seller Commission: Fees, Chart and Calculator
- Blinkit seller commission is the percentage of your selling price that Blinkit keeps on each unit sold.
- This is the most common question new sellers ask, so here is the direct answer.
- Every rupee Blinkit deducts falls into one of seven buckets.
Before you send a single unit to a dark store, you need one number: what does Blinkit seller commission actually cost you per sale. Blinkit does not bill sellers a flat rate. It stacks an inwarding fee, a storage fee tied to how long stock sits, a category commission that is tiered by selling price, a delivery fee and GST on top. The calculator below runs the full stack for all 125 business categories so you can see your true net payout before you price a product.

What is Blinkit seller commission
Blinkit seller commission is the percentage of your selling price that Blinkit keeps on each unit sold. It is the largest of the marketplace charges for most products, and it is not a single flat number. The rate is set by two things at once: your business category and the price band your product falls into. A pair of socks at Rs 250 and the same socks at Rs 900 sit in different bands and carry different commission percentages, even though the category is identical.
This is why a simple flat estimate is misleading and why a proper Blinkit commission calculator matters. The tool above reads the real category chart, finds the band your entered price lands in, and applies that exact percentage rather than a rough average.
Does Blinkit charge joining, registration or listing fees
This is the most common question new sellers ask, so here is the direct answer. There are no Blinkit joining fees, no Blinkit registration fee and no Blinkit listing fees in the traditional upfront sense. You do not pay to open an account or to publish a catalogue. What people are usually searching for when they type blinkit onboarding fees or blinkit seller registration fees is the ongoing cost of selling, and that cost is entirely per order and per day of storage.
In practice this means your spending starts only when inventory is received and when it sells. That is friendlier on cash flow than a fixed subscription, but it also means your effective platform fees move with your price, your category and your stock turnover. Getting the onboarding paperwork right first keeps the whole process clean, which is why we keep a running guide to the documents required for Blinkit onboarding.
The seven Blinkit charges, explained with examples
Every rupee Blinkit deducts falls into one of seven buckets. Four are constant and appear in the calculator total. Three are situational and are shown separately.
1. Inwarding fee
A flat Rs 5 is charged for each unit received at the Blinkit warehouse. Send 100 units and you pay Rs 500 at inwarding, regardless of whether they sell.
2. Storage fee
Charged daily for each unsold unit, based on inventory age and packed volume. Volume is length times breadth times height in cubic centimetres. The longer a unit waits, the higher the daily rate, so slow movers quietly erode margin.
3. Category commission
A percentage of the selling price, tiered by price band and set by category. One unit sold at Rs 100 in a band carrying 15% commission is charged Rs 15. This is the number the calculator highlights in the commission slab table.
4. Delivery or fulfillment fee
A flat Rs 50 for each order Blinkit delivers. If two units of your product ship in one order, the fee is still Rs 50 for that order.
5. Inventory removal fee
Rs 5 per unit to recall stock from dark stores back to the warehouse for collection. Recall 100 units and the removal fee is Rs 500.
6. Customer return fee
Rs 50 per order returned for a reason attributable to the seller. Two units returned in the same order attract a single Rs 50 fee.
7. Damage or loss settlement
If stock is lost or damaged, you are compensated at a category linked percentage of value. The calculator uses the lower of your landing price or 60% of the selling price as a conservative planning figure.
On top of the four constant charges, 18% GST applies. Registered sellers can usually reclaim this as input tax credit, so treat GST as a timing cost rather than a permanent one.
The Blinkit seller commission chart
Because commission is banded, a single category can span a wide range. Apparel accessories, for example, moves from 2% at the lowest band up to 23% above Rs 1200. The calculator ships with the complete Blinkit seller commission chart for every category, searchable and expandable, in the full reference panel at the bottom of the tool. Rather than memorise a static table, type your category into the calculator and read the live band for your exact price.
How the storage fee is worked out
Storage is the charge sellers underestimate most, because it compounds with time. The model in the calculator follows Blinkit’s volumetric logic. Below 4800 cubic centimetres of packed volume, storage is a flat daily rate that steps up with age: a lower rate for the first 30 days, higher from day 31 to 60, and higher again beyond 60 days. At or above 4800 cubic centimetres, the charge switches to a per cubic foot per day basis, where one cubic foot equals 28,316 cubic centimetres. The official rate card also applies a higher of per unit or per cubic foot rule and varies the per cubic foot rate by category, so treat the tool as a close planning estimate and confirm against your live seller panel.
The practical takeaway is simple. Tight packaging and fast turnover are margin levers, not just logistics details. This is the same discipline behind good quick commerce inventory planning, where holding the right depth of stock keeps storage low without risking stockouts.
A worked example
Take a product in Apparel Accessories priced at Rs 702, packed at 1 by 1 by 1 centimetre, expected to sell within 30 days. The commission band at Rs 702 is 17%, so category commission is Rs 119.34. Add the Rs 5 inwarding fee, the Rs 50 delivery fee and Rs 30 of storage across 30 days. The subtotal is Rs 204.34. GST at 18% adds Rs 36.78, taking total Blinkit charges to Rs 241.12. Your net payout is Rs 460.88, which is 65.7% of the selling price retained. Change any input in the calculator and every line updates instantly, which is what makes it usable as a seller calculator during real pricing decisions.
Protecting your margin
Once you can see the full stack, three levers stand out. Price with the band boundaries in view, because a rupee that pushes you into a higher commission tier can cost more than it earns. Keep packed dimensions honest and small to hold storage down. And plan stock so units clear before the 30 and 60 day storage steps. Sellers who treat Blinkit commission as a fixed tax leave money on the table. Sellers who model it, the way this calculator lets you, price with confidence.
