The funding
Limelight Lab Grown Diamonds, a Mumbai based lab grown diamond jewellery brand, has raised Rs 275 crore in a strategic funding round led by its core promoter the Bhathwari Group, Indian Startup News reports. The round, structured as a combination of equity and cash consideration, also saw participation from strategic jewellery industry partners and franchise partners. BSC Advisors acted as financial advisor.
The company said the capital will strengthen its vertical integration capabilities, expand manufacturing infrastructure, enhance design and innovation, and accelerate retail expansion across the country.
Store rollout
Limelight plans to scale aggressively through a mix of company owned and franchise operated outlets spanning metros, Tier I and Tier II markets. Per the report, the brand is targeting 100 new stores in 2026 and aims to reach 200 stores by 2027.
Why it matters for Indian brands: lab grown diamonds are moving from a niche pitch to a retail land grab, and a promoter led Rs 275 crore round signals confidence in offline expansion even as much of D2C stays online. Jewellery and lifestyle brands weighing physical stores can read this as a marker that Tier I and Tier II demand supports company owned plus franchise networks at scale.
