  • Portfolio spans reusable pads, iron supplements and PCOS care
  • Funds to grow digital commerce and marketplace reach

A small round in a growing category

Direct to consumer women’s health brand Avni Wellness has raised Rs 4 crore, roughly 470,000 dollars, in a seed funding round led by Proteus Partners. The round also saw participation from Puru Gupta and Sreejith Moolayil, former co-founders of True Elements, A. Velumani, the founder of Thyrocare, and Somya Nigam. Founded in 2021 by Sujata Pawar and Apurv Agarwal, the Mumbai based brand describes itself as a science backed, toxin free, holistic cycle care company built to address women’s health across every phase of life, from adolescence to menopause.

The company said it will use the capital to strengthen its digital commerce engine, expand its cycle nutrition portfolio, scale a network of women led micro entrepreneurs, and grow its marketplace presence. Its range includes reusable antimicrobial pads, liposomal iron supplements, PCOS care solutions, and seed based hormonal nutrition products.

What it means for operators

Avni sits in the femtech and women’s wellness space, a category that has drawn steady early stage interest as more brands target hormonal health, menstrual care and nutrition with clinical positioning. The round is small, which is typical for a seed stage consumer brand still building repeat purchase behaviour, and the presence of experienced consumer founders as angels signals confidence in the category more than the size of the cheque. For operators, the notable move is the blend of digital commerce with a women led micro entrepreneur network, a hybrid distribution approach that can reach buyers who do not shop through mainstream marketplaces. Brands in personal care and wellness should watch whether community and offline seeding lowers acquisition cost in categories where trust and education drive the first purchase, since paid performance marketing alone rarely builds a durable health brand.
